Ferries to the beaches of Tavira island (Ilha de Tavira) run every hour and the roundtrip ticket costs 1,50 Eur (2012). There are a selection of beaches, the calm sheltered side which appeared safe for children and the main beach which could have large waves and a decent breeze. Some of beaches are organised with sunbeds and sunshades, bars, cafes and restaurants and there is a vast expanses of sand where people pitch their own sunshades and towels - Portugal
