Castelsardo - view from the castle wall

Small town Castelsardo is a beautiful medieval town with a castle built on the rock above the sea, there is also a museum of local crafts and near the castle is Cathedral of St. Antonio Abate, which gives the castle its special character.

This medieval town in Sardinia is located in the northwest of the island, it lies on the cliffs above the sea, near the forthress with a superbly preserved city walls. The city was founded in 1102 by family Doria from Genoa. Castles original name was Castel Genovese, then Castel Aragonese, and finally  the king of Sardinia gives the castle name Piedmont in 1796.
