Pictures of mt. Mulhacen - Sierra Nevada

The ascent to Mt Mulhacen from the South started in Capileira which is less then two hours by car from La Herradura - resort on Costa tropical. There are two mountain huts in the Park which are guarded, and some other non-guarded huts. For those ones who prefer wild camping, they should know that the camp should be over the 2000 meters in a place free of trees.

You can drive with car from Capileira up to the entrance of Sierra Nevada National Park where you have to leave the car (barriere) and continue on a foot. From there is about 2 or 3 hour hike to the hut which stayed on 2500 m. Ascent from the hut to the summit take another 2 hour of walk. In the summer and early autumn you do'nt need crampons nor piolet. If you have luck (we havent) then at the summit you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Mediterranean sea, the city of Granada and surrounding peaks of Sierra Nevada. The descent to the entrance of the park takes a 3-4 hours hike down.
