    Old town Dubrovnik

    Dubrovnik is one of the most known touristic spots in Europe. With its unique fortifications set on azure blue surroundings it really is one of Croatias gems. There are many five star holetls that also attract celebrities from all over the world in this amazing town. Especially beautiful and special is the Old Town of Dubrovnik.

    Old Town has many historical buildings and monuments worth seeing among them is: Franciscan Monastery, Dubrovnik city walls, Rector's Palace, Gunduliceva poljana Market, Orthodox Church and Icon Museum and Old Pharmacy Museum. Old Town is crowded and compat and almost everything that is worth seeing is centred there.

    Squares and streets of Dubrovnik

    You'll be surrounded among the 15th century walls of fortifications and along you'll also see 300 metre long Stradun. In the main square that is located inside the city walls you'll find astronomical clock tower. Other sights are easily reachable. Round the corner on the south side of the harbour is located Rector's Palace, The Maritime Museum, St. John's Fortress and the Aquarium. The baroque Church of St Blaise is located in front of the clock tower. This church was rebuilt after the 1667 earthquake. The main attraction inside the church is the statue of the saint on the alter. The modern addition are the stained glass windows. By the Pile Gate built in the 15th century at the other end of Stradun there is a drawbridged entrance to the Old Town. You can find there a beautiful Funtain of Onofrio's. Behind Franciscan monastery and Franciscan church there is a museum of religious artefacts and one of the worlds oldest pharmacies.

    Exhibition, festivals, events in Dubrovnik

    War Photo Limited is the best modern gallery, they have all the time chaning exhibitions throughout the year. Especially devoted to war in Croatia that was going on from 1991-1995. Visia Cinema is another great sport that is located inside Pile Gate, they use hologram picture shows about Dubrovnik's history and 3D movies.

    When you are visiting the town of Dubrovnik you cant forget about Dubrovnik Summer Festival, it is considered as one of the most prestigious arts event in the whole Europe. It offers a mixture of drama, serious music, they have open air stages in the atmospheric set up all around the Old Town center. Especially great are open air classical concerts, processions of all kinds of festivals and different street performances.
