The Naval Support System (NSA) in Naples was built in accordance to the United States’ commitment to serve the member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Naval Support Activity Naples Detachment (NSAND) can be found in the locality of Gaeta, Italy. Halfway among Rome and Naples, the town of Gaeta is a holiday summer season resort town with beautiful beaches and historic resources. Since leaving Ville Franche, France in 1967, the U.S. Sixth Fleet flagship has resided in Gaeta, Italy. The Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean includes activity forces, battle groups, amphibious forces, support ships, land-based surveillance aircraft, and submarines.
NSA Naples has gone through a series of improvement works in its facilities and services to better the provision of its residents. These projects are aimed at alleviating the living condition of the Americans inside NSA Naples and erase the negative status it has earned through the years. To date, NSA Naples has better housing, recreational and other maintenance facilities. Schools for both elementary and secondary are built to provide better quality education and learning experience for pupils and students respectively.

The location of the lodge is accessible to some of the NSA Naples facilities- express banking machines, coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores, chapel, postal office and a host of other support services.
There are also affordable housing units inside NSA Naples. Economy and government housing provides better shelter for residents with reasonable features and amenities without the extra out-of-pocket cost. Some residents have chosen to live outside of NSA Naples to try the different world that lies in the city of Naples and forge new friendships with the locals and other nationals.

Because of the new world that besets before them, these new residents feel home sick and had difficulty adjusting to a new environment. A feeling of alienation to a new world and culture is just but a natural thing and an expected one to happen. Social support system is at work inside and outside of NSA in order to help Americans live the kind of life they deserve while being away from home country. In fact, older residents have somehow learned to get accustomed and have blended with the Neapolitan way of life.
If NSA Naples can afford to protect the people of the NATO member countries then by all means it should find all means to protect its own people from the humdrum of living in a far away place.
