Tarifa is known for many things. But the most prevailing one is actually prevailing itself… the wind!
The beach at Tarifa is all on the Atlantic side. It is large, sandy, sunny and great but it also very windy. Great place for windsurfers and a bit less for sunbathing. From Tarifa you can see the coast of Morocco.
There are several spots in and around Tarifa that are great for surfing. Being on the Atlantic coast can bring in some nice waves from the west. The best season for surfing is usually in the Autumn, Winter or Spring, where the swell much larger.
The bays of Bolonia is separated from Tarifa with San Bartolo mountain. They reaches up impressively above the small village. This place used to live from tuna fishing until tourism brought up an additional income. The bay is known as the most beautiful beach on the Costa de la Luz. Large hotels or apartment complexes cannot be found here, but you can find holiday apartments or nice hostels. On the table of local restaurants you can always order delicious local tuna.
